Welcome to
Imaging Systems Technology
Imaging Systems Technology (IST) is a woman owned, family business that was founded in October 1997. It is an electronics firm with its core competency in large area flat panel displays.
IST is based in Toledo, Ohio in our 25,000 square foot facility. This facility includes an 11,000 square foot industrial bay and over 5,000 square feet in laboratory space dedicated to large area displays.
News Release:
Toledo, Ohio
September 2004-
Imaging Systems Technology IST) announces today that it has received an SBIR Phase IIB grant from the National Science Foundation to further the development of color Plasma-spheresTM for use in large area flexible plasma displays.
Plasma-spheresTM are tiny hollow spheres encapsulating an ionizable gas. When voltage is applied across the sphere, the gas ionizes and glows. The spheres form the basis of an addressable pixel element and they may be applied to both flexible and rigid substrates.
The Plasma-sphereTM display is essentially by the same physics as a conventional plasma display. Thus, it will be possible to achieve bright, full color displays with a video update. Additionally, they are very rugged and provide a low cost solution path to large area flexible displays.
IST believes these displays will find commercial application in large venue display markets, large conformable display markets, and eventually home theater applications.
Research and development under the grant will focus on optimizing the materials necessary to make a full color display.
Imaging Systems Technology (IST) is please to announce that it has been selected to receive the State of Ohio 2005 Emerging Technology award for it's research in Flexible Plasma Displays.
This award will be presented to Carol Ann Wedding, President, of IST in Columbus, Ohio on November 21, 2005. The award is presented to recognize the innovations and significant accomplishments of small technology-oriented companies in Ohio. The award honor companies that are making valuable progress in the advancement of current technologies or are on the cutting edge in pursing new and emerging technologies.
IST has been able to complete much of its research with grants from the State of Ohio Third Frontier Action Fund, The Advanced Technology Program (ATP) sponsored by NIST, and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR). These grants, along with an excellent team of engineers, have resulted in Imaging Systems Technology superceding technical milestones as well as developing an impressive Intellectual Property portfolio in flexible displays.
IST also received the R&D 100 Award on Thursday, October 20, 2005 in Chicago.
